Dr. Ramin Fathi, MD

Dr. Ramin Fathi founded Phoenix Surgical Dermatology Group with the goal of providing world-class dermatologic care to the state of Arizona. He believes cutting edge healthcare by staff who are dedicated to providing excellence and compassion in a friendly manner is the right of every person.

Originally from Chicago, IL, Dr. Fathi graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, with a degree in accounting. He then received his medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois where he graduated at the top of his medical school class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

Following a transitional year internship at the Colorado Health Foundation in Denver, Colorado, he completed his dermatology residency at the University of Colorado Denver. During his residency, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which recognizes those who have displayed excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service.

He subsequently completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX where he received advanced training in Mohs micrographic surgery and complex reconstructive surgery. While there, he received the Resident Teaching Award, which identifies the fellow or faculty member who exemplified the most valuable teaching to the residents and medical students as voted on by the resident physicians.

Dr. Fathi has written more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers and several book chapters and has spoken at multiple national meetings. He is a member and has held committee positions in the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He has represented the American College of Mohs Surgery on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. advocating for lower drug prices, patient access to care, and overall improvement in the healthcare system. Dr. Fathi is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is an Associate Member of the American College of Mohs Surgery.
